| 22 Short; 95% blue, very good bore, very good stock, 28'' barrel, Manufactured in 1918, US MARKED Winchester 1885 Low Wall WINDER Musket Scarce Example w US Ordnance Flaming Bomb Marks. It is chambered in .22 Rimfire Short, made circa 1918 in New Haven, Connecticut. This rifle was one of only about 11,000 to be purchased by the U.S. Ordnance Department from 1918-1919. The rifle features a nice bull barrel, sling swivels, The Ordnance Department’s “US/Flaming Bomb” is marked behind the hammer on the frame. The frame tang is marked “TRADE MARK/WINCHESTER/REG.US.PAT.OFF&FGN.” The barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO/NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 7, 1879”. The left side of the breech end of the barrel is marked “.22 SHORT”. The sights have been removed; the metal finish has slight patina on the edge of the barrel where it meets the stock.
