| 44-40 Winchester; 60% blue, excellent bore, good stock, 24 3/8'' barrel, 3rd type. Manufactured in 1883. Round barrel having a fixed front sight and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The barrel retains most of the blued finish while the receiver/frame have mainly trace finish, remainder an even light patina. Original walnut stock has had a coat of varnish applied long ago. The barrel is marked over the left side with the Winchester address and king's Improvement 1866 and 1860 patent dates. "MADE IN U.S.A" on the left under the rear sight, and with the caliber designation "44 W.C.F. on the left chamber. Oval proof on top of the chamber. Crescent butt with trap. Action functions well and the bore is bright and strong. Antique., s/n 1411xxA |
