| 58 Cal; excellent bore, good stock, 33'' barrel, The original blue finish on the barrel has worn to a light brown patina. Brass mounted walnut stock with two spring kept bands. Brass buttplate marked U.S. on the tang and patchbox on the right side. Lockplate has turned a dark spotty patina and is marked with the Eagle over small U.S. and REMINGTON'S/ILION, N.Y., with the date 1863 stamped at the rear of the plate. The barrel is marked with an eagleshead proof and V P, date 1863 and STEEL on the left side. A faint illegible inspectors cartouche is visible on the left side of the stock flat. The original tulip headed ramrod is present. The upper sling swivel pin has been repaired. The lock works fine. 7 groove bore is very nice. Antique, |
