| 58 Caliber; good bore, good stock, 40'' barrel, Springfield Armory manufacture, dated 1858. Tape primer plate marked with the American Eagle motif. 1858 date on top of the barrel. Bright metal finish. Iron mounted walnut stock with brass forend tip. Faint but visible inspector cartouches on the left side stock flat. US marked buttplate tang. Long range rear sight. Stock shows handling and light sanding. Metal has been cleaned but not overdone. Original ramrod. Stock has a cracks in front of and at the rear of the lockplate, and a tiny split behind the barrel tang. Action functions well. Antique |
