| 52 Caliber; fair bore, good stock, 22'' barrel, New Model 1863 percussion breechloading carbine made without the patchbox. Patina metal with areas of dark spotting. Walnut stock and forend. E.A.W. inspector marks on the left side of the barrel chamber and on the saddle ring base. No legible markings on the stock. Original markings on the barrel, lockplate and frame are legible. Bore has spots of corrosion and pitting with fairly strong rifling. Silver blade fixed front sight, rear ladder sight, base marked with the RS Lawrence patent date. Ladder graduated to 800 yards. Action functions well. The forend has a small chip and crack at the bottom right rear corner. Stock has a minor crack on the heel in front of the buttplate tang. Antique., s/n C6xx |
