| 12 Gauge; fair bore, fair stock, 32'' barrel, Manufactured in 1875, with Damascus barrels, casehardened frame and a plain walnut stock. Pre 1878 patent forearm with wedge and metal tip. Listed as a PT grade in the Parker Gun Identification and Serialization book available from Blue Book Publishing. Marked on top of the smooth barrel rib "PARKER BROS MAKER'S MERIDEN CONN PLAIN TWIST" and both lockplates are engraved "PARKER BROS". The lug on the barrels is marked for a size 2 frame. The finish on the barrels has turned a gray patina with spotting. The left barrel has a shallow dent about in the center. The case color has faded from the frame, leaving some minor spotting. The wood shows its age with handling marks. There are two small cracks on both sides of the upper tag and a crack behind the lower tang, where a sling swivel has been installed. There is also a large chip of wood missing above the left lockplate. The actions work well and lockup is tight. The stock is a bit loose. Antique., s/n 59xx |
