The government allowed Mossberg to sell these commercially, provided the serial number prefix was "U.S.A" and not "U.S." The trigger guard and the safety are aluminum - not plastic. The left side of the barrel is marked "Mossberg / Chambered For 2 3/4 And 3 In. Shells / 12 Ga. - 20 In. Cylinder Bore -". The right side of the barrel is marked "Warning / Before Use Read Owner's Guide For / Safe Operation - Free From / P.O. Box 487. North Haven, CT. 06473". The left side of the frame is marked "U.S.A00499". the underside of the frame is marked "Mossberg / Made In U.S.A. / North Haven. Conn. / 500MILS 12 GA". Mounted with a single black forward bead sight. The stocks are synthetic, showing only surface storage marks. The LOP measures 13 3/4". Has both green and black slings. Excellent Pump Action Shotgun.
