Description:
8mm Mauser; 85% blue, good bore, good stock, 23.5'' barrel, Original low turret K98k snipers rifle, Mauser byf 43 manufacture, with original blued finish, laminated wood stock and handguard. Stock and handguard are matching, marked inside the barrel channel. Numbered parts on the rifle are all matching. Stamped on each side of the receiver ring below the edge of the front turret mount with eagle/135 proofs. Top of the barrel chamber is marked with an eagle/135 proof. Front turret is not marked, rear base is marked on the left side with an eagle/135 proof. Hensoldt "bmj" code marked Dialytan 4X scope with about 50% original blued finish remaining, serial numbered 67592. The rings are not matching to the rifle, front ring marked on the left side with the serial number 28921i. The rear ring has the serial number 28921i stamped on the bottom. The scope has very good clear optics with pointer/crossbars reticle. The stock has a legible eagle/WA135 proof on the right side of the butt and one on the bottom behind the trigger guard. Eagle/swaztika military acceptance marks appear on the left side of the barrel and receiver ring. Stamped steel upper band, milled lower band, milled trigger guard and floorplate. Most small parts are not proofed, those that are are eagle/135 proofed. Original front sight hood, cleaning rod and rubber muzzle cap. With the scope are original leather lens covers in very good condition, one end stamped with an eagle/WaA414 proof. Also included is a leather scope case in good intact condition, embossed on top of the lid with script "L.Sdz". Consignor notes state that this rifle was purchased directly from the WW2 Veteran that brought it home, Staff Sgt J.J. Stanford, whose name is written around the top edge of the scope case. The right side of the stock butt has a name lightly carved, hard to fully make out but appears to be "HOLLANDERD / BN". The metal finish and wood show some wear and handling. The stock has a separation in the laminate on the right side, does not go deep. Mechanically fine. C&R/FFL, s/n 416xxi
