| Description: |
| very good grips, 9.75'' barrel, Navy Officer Dagger with Hanger, Knot and Hammered Scabbard by F.W. Höller Solingen. This Höller example is very attractive and hammered scabbard features. Kriegsmarine 2nd Model, 1938. The maker mark is stamped by F.W. Höller Solingen. Overall is a great example. The Höller pommels are slightly smaller than most of the other types and have a nice angle to the half-open eagle wings. This nicely offsets the wreath and mobile, which is executed in deep relief. The cross guard has the usual fouled anchors in the center blocks, with a decoration of acanthus leaves on the sides of the quillon arms. The grip is a lighter tangerine color orange. The grip has a small hair line crack, at the top of the grip.it is in very good condition and, as we usually see on Höller pieces, it is tightly wrapped with springy copper wire. The original-to-the-piece portapee. The blade has a dark and crisp acid etched fouled anchor blade on this one looks great! The fit is nice and tight, and the tip comes to a perfect point. The reverse ricasso is etched with the early form of the Höller trademark, being slightly more detailed that later versions. It features a set of double ovals which contain the firm's name and location, “F.W. Höller Solingenâ€. The scabbard is straight throughout and has an excellent hammered finish. This finish is nicely set off by the straight-across bands typical of the Höller firm. These bands feature overlapping oak leaves with acorns in between and show only mild wear. The eyelets have the hammered finish., |
