| 12 Gauge; Good bore, poor stock, 30.25'' barrel, Marked on the sides of both lockplates "BELMONT/INTERCHANGEABLE/GUN". Marked on top of the matted rib "BELMONT INTERCHANGEABLE GUN-SPECIAL STEEL" and at the back end of the rib "PATENT/MAY 31 1884/CLIP LUMP". 2 1/2 inch chambers wht Full chokes. Blued steel barrels, casehardened frame and lockplates and mounted in checkered walnut. British proofs on the barrels and frame. The finish on the barrels has turned a spotting patina overall. The frame finish is a gray patina with some minor spotting. The wood has many small dings and scratches. The forearm has an ebony tip which is possibly a replacement. The stock is cracked behind the tang and across to the back of both lockplates. There is also a chip on the toe of the stock and buttplate. One of the hammers is a replacement. The actions work fine. A tiny bit of barrel play can be forced in lockup. Antique., |
