| 44-40 WCF; fair bore, good stock, 26'' barrel, Manufactured in 1888. Octagon barrel with silver blade front sight, fine V notched elevation adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. Stamped on top of the barrel "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. U.S.A./+ELLIOT'S PATENTS MAY 29, 1883. SEPT. 18, 1883.+". Caliber designation "44 Cal." stamped over the chamber. Rampant Colt logo on the left side of the receiver is a bit faint. The metal has aged to an even light patina overall with minor-moderate pitting. The stock and forend show fairly light handling wear. There is a tight 1" crack on the bottom of the stock at the tip of the lower tang. The action functions well. The bore has shine and strong rifling, corrosion/pitting thoughout. Antique, s/n 251xx |
