| 44-40 Winchester; fair bore, good grips, 7.5'' barrel, Manufactured in 1891. Made at the time of transition to the transverse cylinder latch, this revolver retains the screw lock in the front of the frame. Matching serial numbers. Gun mostly gray with traces of the original blued finish, most of the remaining finish is on the barrel. Original checkered hard rubber grips. Stamped along the left side of the barrel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". The Colt's address in a single line on top of the barrel. The left side of the frame stamped with 1871, 1872 and 1875 patent dates in two lines followed by the circled Rampant Colt. This gun shows its age and share of use. Rust and dark spotting on the metal, minor dings here and there. Silvering areas on the case hardened frame. Grips have smoothed detail but show no damage. The action functions well and is in time. The bore has rusting and pitting throughout. Antique., s/n 1446xx |
