Die Roth-Steyr M1907 war die weltweit erste halbautomatische Ordonnanzpistole, die von einer Grossmacht regulär beim Militär eingeführt wurde. Ab dem Jahr 1907 diente sie der Kavallerie der k.u.k. Armee von Österreich-Ungarn als moderner Ersatz für ältere Revolver. Entwickelt wurde die Waffe von dem tschechischen Konstrukteur Karel Krnka auf Basis von Patenten der Firma Georg Roth. Da Roth keine eigenen Fabriken besass, übernahmen die Österreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft in Steyr sowie die ungarische FEG die Produktion. Technisch zeichnete sich die Waffe durch ein fest im Griffstück integriertes Magazin für 10 Patronen aus, das von oben mithilfe eines Ladestreifens befüllt wurde. Sie verschoss das eigens für sie entwickelte Kaliber 8 mm Roth-Steyr. Einzigartig war zudem das teilvorgespannte Abzugssystem ohne äusseren Hahn, das als ein früher technologischer Vorläufer heutiger Glock-Pistolen gilt.
