| Säbel ZH, BE, Artillerie Schweizer Militär-Machete, Haumesser für Artilleristen Im ausgehenden 18. Jh. bewaffneten die Berner ihre Fussartilleristen mit einem Hirschfänger, der eigentlich eher eine schwere Plute war. Nach 1804 bewaffneten auch die Zürcher ihre Artillerie mit Säbeln, die eigentlich Macheten waren, kurze schwere Haumesser. Die Zürcher Säbel waren mit Griffen nach Art des französischen Grenadiersäbels 1767 versehen. Das Militärreglement von 1817 sah als kurzen Säbel nur das Briquet vor. Es war aber selbstverständlich, dass noch Taugliches wiederverwendet wurde. So wurden auch die Artillerieweidmesser von BE aus dem 18. Jh. und die Artilleriesäbel Zürichs aus der Zeit nach der Helvetik zum Teil mit den "modernen" Rundbügel-Briquetgriffen ausgerüstet. Diese Griffe sind in der Regel stark kupferhaltig und somit rötlich. Jedenfalls sind solche auf Briquet-Griffe umgerüstete Artilleriehaumesser extrem selten. Klingenlänge 51,5 cm, Klingenbreite 4,3 cm!! Der Griff hat 26 Griffrippen. |
