| L'Uzi est une mitraillette semi-automatique développée en Israël par l'ingénieur en armement Uziel Gal à partir de 1948 et fabriquée par la société de défense Israel Military Industries (IMI). Arme compacte et fiable, ses multiples apparitions au cinéma ont marqué le grand public, au point que la dénomination "Uzi" est parfois utilisée comme un terme générique pour désigner une mitraillette. Construit par emboutissage de feuilles de métal, l'Uzi comporte une culasse à recouvrement, c'est-à-dire qui recouvre une partie du canon afin de déplacer le centre de gravité de l'arme plus en avant, montée sur une rampe inclinée qui réduit le recul et la longueur 2. Les premières versions, sorties en 1952, comportaient un canon, une poignée et une crosse (courte ou longue) en bois, qui équipaient alors les Tsahal.
