| Beschreibung Diese Peitsche ist kein Spielzeug!In Afrika ist die Sjambok sowohl eine Peitsche als auch ein Stachelstock zum Viehtreiben oder ein Hilfsmittel zur Selbstverteidigung. Anders als bei den meisten Westernstil-Peitschen wird die Sjambok nicht aus dünnen geflochtenen Lederriemen gefertigt, sondern aus einem besonders dicken Stück Nilpferdhaut herausgearbeitet. Aus diesem Grund in Deutschland auch Nilpferdpeitsche genannt, hat sie dank ihrer beachtlichen Reichweite, ihrer unglaublichen Geschwindigkeit und ihrer verheerenden Wirkung den Ruf eines zuverlässigen Instruments zur Abwehr von tödlichen Schlangen gewonnen. Die Sjambok lässt man nicht wie eine konventionelle Westernpeitsche knallen. Stattdessen wird sie wie eine Rute oder ein Stock verwendet. Somit leisten ihr Gewicht, ihre Geschwindigkeit und die Biegsamkeit ihres Schlags die ganze Arbeit und es erfordert kein großes Geschick, um ihre richtige Handhabung zu meistern. Da Flusspferdhaut heutzutage ziemlich rar und wirtschaftlich nicht tragbar ist, bietet Cold Steel eine Kunststoffnachbildung der klassischen Sjambok. In Aussehen und Leistung kommt Cold Steels synthetische Sjambok sogar den teuersten Originalen gleich. Sie ist aus Polypropylen spritzgegossen und verfügt über einen dicken, kräftigen Schlag und einen weichen, bequemen Kray-Ex(TM) Griff, der geflochtenes Leder imitiert. Da sie gänzlich aus extrem zähem Kunststoff besteht, ist sie außerdem witterungsbeständig und wird im Gegensatz zu Leder weder reissen bzw. rissig werden noch schrumpfen oder schimmeln. |
