Mauser - Target 2/24
Peter Dallhammer

Adversarial military and other services in 1945 were not solely seeking technological achievements of German rocket and nuclear researchers, but generally showed a wide-ranging interest in various companies to obtain their records, documents, executives, scientists, engineers, etc. It was about any kind of information that could be of value to the Allies in the future.

Certainly, it was no pleasure for Mauser's employees to have to answer to representatives of the Western Allies. Who kept their heads down, who gave information willingly? A cat-and-mouse game. Nevertheless: From today's perspective, it was a stroke of luck. For it resulted in a visit report of the highest class; an impressive historical document of significance - a must for those interested in firearms technology.

What areas did Mauser research? How did the roller lock or gas relief grooves in the cartridge chamber come about? Why were electric primers used? Which individuals played a decisive role? What salaries were paid? What did the Reich intend with the relocation of specialists and equipment from Oberndorf? The CIOS Report Visit to Mauser-Werke AG provides the answers. Here now for the first time in German translation and in full.
