Description: |
W+F Bern Swiss 05/11 Carbine - sn 24xxx Scarce Swiss 05/11 carbine which was converted from a W+F BERN Model 1905 Cavalry Carbine, with only up to 7,900 total in existence; no exact number is known. The base 1905 Cavalry Carbine in this conversion was one of 2600 pieces originally manufactured in 1908. Good condition with 80% finish. 3/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bore is bright with worn rifling. Furniture overall has mainly light handling wear with a small amount of pressure marks. On the left side of the stock are a few faint pressure marks near the comb. The right side of the stock also has a few light marks at the comb and a few light marks around the finger groove. There is a pressure mark on the underside of the stock at the toe with some white marks around it, near the bottom of the pistol grip, and the wood finish is mildly worn at the pistol grip. The handguard has an armory repair in front of the rear sight. Bluing has been refinished. The receiver has moderate edge wear around the loading slot, edge wear around the lightening cuts, and there is uneven finish wear on the rear left and upper rear sides. There are several small marks in the metal surface. Rear barrel band has light finish wear throughout and edge wear on the underside at the mounting screw. Front barrel band has light finish wear on the top side, edge wear on the left side hinge, moderate bluing wear on the right side at the mounting screw and edge wear on the underside at the bayonet lug. Trigger plate has mild finish wear, with edge wear around the screws. Trigger guard has evidence of previous surface frost and has edge wear. Bluing on the magazine base is thinning and has moderate edge wear. Receiver is P stamped. Receiver is also WF27 stamped, indicating factory refurbishment in 1927. Soldier's tag found under the butt plate. Includes muzzle cover and leather sling. C&R Eligible. Discreet import engraving. FFL is required for delivery. See our How To Order page for instructions. The 05/11 Carbine can be identified by its five-digit serial number beginning with the number "2". As both the 1900 Short Rifle and the 1905 Cavalry Carbine both started with the serial number "1", the 1900 Short Rifle retained its original serial number and the number "2" was added in front of the original 1905 Cavalry Carbine's four digit serial number to avoid duplicated serial numbers at the time of conversion. 05/11 Carbine serial numbers range from 20001 to 27900. |
