Der Colt Super 38 ist eine Version des Colt 1911A1 (Militärversion) oder Colt Government (kommerzielle Version) mit einer Kammer für die .38SA-Patrone. Das vorgestellte Exemplar wurde 1965 nach dem Colt-Register hergestellt. Die Pistole hat ein sehr schönes poliertes bronziertes Finish, typisch für die Pre-70-Serie. Diese Pistole scheint anstelle der Standard-Kunststoffgriffe Holzgriffe zur Erinnerung an das hundertjährige Bestehen der NRA (1871-1971) erhalten zu haben. Später wurden Doppeldiamanteinsätze hinzugefügt.

For sale a Colt model Super 38 pistol, pre-70 series, cal. .38SA (.38SuperAuto), polished black finish, in excellent overall condition, little fired.
 
The Colt Super 38 is a version of the Colt 1911A1 (military version) or Colt Government (commercial version), which was chambered for the .38SA cartridge. The specimen presented was manufactured in 1965 according to the Colt register. The pistol has a very nice polished black finish, typical of the pre-70 series. This pistol seems to have received commemorative wooden grips of the centenary of the NRA (1871-1971) in place of the standard plastic grips. Wooden double-diamond grips were added later.

Lexemplaire présenté a été fabriqué en 1965 selon le registre Colt. Le pistolet présente une très belle finition bronzée polie, typique des séries pré-70. Ce pistolet semble avoir reçu des plaquettes en bois commémoratives du centenaire de la NRA (1871-1971) à la place des plaquettes plastique standard. Les plaquettes double-diamond ont été ajoutées par la suite.
