| 22 LR; 98% blue, good bore, excellent stock, 18'' barrel, Also known as the Model 99, this is a single shot bolt action boy’s rifle with original blue finish and plain walnut stock fitted with the original plastic buttplate. This unique design eliminated the conventional trigger and guard commonly located on the bottom of the action. Instead the trigger was located behind the cocking piece and activated using the thumb when held at aim. Produced from 1904 through 1923 with just over 75,000 made. The top center of the barrel is marked with a two-line address and patent date AUG. 29, 1899, followed by "THUMB TRIGGER MODEL.-WINCHESTER/.22 SHORT AND LONG OR EXTRA LONG-TRADE MARK REG.IN U.S. PAT.OFF.".
