| 12 Gauge; 5% blue, fair bore, fair stock, 30'' barrel, Manufactured in 1897. Here is an original Winchester Repeating Arms Company Model 1887 lever action 12-gauge shotgun. The patent dates as listed on the lower tang are as follows: Feb 16th and July 20th, 1886. The left side of the receiver has the elegant WRA Co. monogram as from the factory. Original metal checkered buttplate intact as well. The metal finish has turned a rich plum with light scattered patina. The bore shows light pitting. The top of the barrel is faintly marked with 2-line Winchester address, and a 12. Designed to use black powder as a propellant, and so the Model 1887 shotgun was designed and chambered for less powerful black powder 2 5/8-inch shot shells. The smooth pommel grip stock has several grain cracks on both sides and light decay on the left side. ANTIQUE., s/n 614xx |
