| 45-70 GOVT; good bore, very good stock, 26'' barrel, Manufactured in 1890, scarce half round/half octagon barrel. Original silver blade fixed front sight and ladder rear sight graduated for 1000 yards. Blued finish barrel and magazine tube mixing with light brown patina. Casehardened action and buttplate with silvered mottling. Stamped on top of the barrel flat "-MANUFACTURED BY THE- / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO, NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.-". Caliber designation over the chamber "45-70". Upper tang marked "-Model 1886-". Serial number and patent dates 1884 and 1885 on the lower tang. Mechanically fine. Hazy bore with fairly strong rifling. Antique., s/n 474xx |
