| WW1 US ARMY uniform of Pvt Walter Gallandt from St. Louis, Mo (lived a few blocks south of Tower Grove Park who served in Company H of the 349th Infantry Regiment 88th Division. Group includes his cotton coat, breeches with web belt and overseas cap. Insignia on coat consists of 88th Division shoulder patch, red discharge stripe and overseas chevron. Collar disks are stylized National Army and 349 Infantry H with and additional infantry H disk on the cap. Also included is a French phrase book of his statement of service card summarizing his service record, various period correspondence and Army publications, extra discharge stripe and a certification from the Army training school qualifying him to operate a Stokes Mortar. Interesting note is that this solder was born in Germany., |
