| WW I US Army uniform group of SGT Norman K Weimer from Beach City, Ohio who served in Company D, 146th Infantry Regiment 37th Infantry Division. The uniform includes his overseas cap, breeches, and coat. The insignia on the coat consists of a 37th Division shoulder patch, red discharge stripe, one gold overseas chevron, one gold wound chevron, SGT chevron and on the collar are a US and infantry disks. The cap also has an infantry disk. Also included are his dog tags, sgt whistle and WW I Stark County Honor roll book (609 pages) which has a picture of him and of his brother LT John Weimer who was KIA. Research includes a copy of his discharge, copy of his orbit, copy of special order number 16 which awarded the wound chevron to him, an original 1929 Beach City Memorial Day program, copies of newspaper articles about the wartime movements of the 146th and copies of some pages from the Wayne County, Ohio in the World War book concerning Company D. Sgt Weimers name and that of his deceased brother appear in this paperwork. Their mother signed up to go on the mother's pilgrimage of 1930 to visit her other sons grave in France. Norman Weimer was a student when the war started. He became an educator and was Sup of schools in Beach City among other positions held. Sgt Weimer was a true WW I combat soldier. |
