| Manufactured by N.S. Meyer in New York. The sword is marked with the hallmark "SPARTAN TRADEMARK N.S. MEYER WEST GERMANY". The blade is also marked with the brass inlaid PROVED medallion. The etching on the blade is beautiful with floral sprays and an eagle at midpoint, clutching a ribbon with the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM". The other side of the blade is the same except that the eagle is replaced with the "U.S." initials in gothic script. This sword also features more floral pattern etched along the spine of the blade. Also etched on blade is the name, LT COL J R SCHMIDT, MACOMB, PEORIA and the other side with TAILAND, ENGLAND. This presentation sword has a nickel-plated hilt with a black finger molded Bakelite grip that is badly cracked and a four-branch decorated up-tilted D-guard also nickel plated | Includes the original nickel plated scabbard / sheath, |
