THE STORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THESE RIFLES IS NOTED ON PAGES 145-146 IN THE BOOK "THE SPRINGFIELD 1903 RIFLES" BY WILLIAM S. BROPHY. THE BLUING SHOWS LIGHT WEAR ON THE BARREL NEAR THE MUZZLE AND ON THE TRIGGER GUARD. THE BORE IS MIRROR BRIGHT WITH EXCELLENT RIFLING.
