| 45-70 caliber; 80% blue, fair bore, poor stock, U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MFG in 1863 and Converted in 1870 to breech Trapdoor single shot. The action works very well. The bore is fair. the lock is marked 1863 and has an EAGLE over U.S. over SPRINGFIELD and the Breech Block is dated 1870 with an Eagle head cartouche. This indicates the year of conversion. The metal finish on the barrel looks like it has been cleared and has scattered patina overall on the barrel. The front sight is a blade and the rear is a ladder style. The finish on the receiver and lock plate is very dark. The stock has two large cracks on each side at the breech and sideplate, with numerous handling marks and dings the buttplate has patina overall. ANTIQUE, |
