| 45-70 Government; 80% blue, excellent bore, good stock, 27 7/8'' barrel, Bolt action repeating rifle with butt tube fed magazine. Original blued finish, walnut one piece stock, forend with two spring kept barrel bands. Fixed front sight, ladder rear sight marked on the left side of the base "C-R". The left side of the barrel is stamped with V, P and eagleshead proofs. Stamped along the top left edge of the receiver "U S - SPRINGFIELD. - 1884.". Sharp script boxed SWP/1884 inspector cartouche on the left side of the butt heel. Circled script P firing proof on the bottom of the grip. The finish on the barrel is thinning with spotting and scattered areas of surface rusting. The receiver has turned bright with dark spotting The stock has been arsenal repaired on the left side and around the wrist to the comb and right side. There is a tight crack on the bottom of the forend running from the trigger guard tang forward for about 2 1/2 inches. Mechanics are fine. The bore is bright and sharp. Antique |
