| 45 Cal; fair bore, fair stock, 30'' barrel, Conversion using a Spencer carbine action with saddle ring ground off left side tieplate. Fitted with a heavy octagon barrel with fixed front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight with thumb slider. Exact chambering in not known, retains the rimfire breechblock, bore measure .445 at the muzzle. 5 groove rifling. Original magazine tube in butt. Original Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. markings on top of receiver. Lower sling swivel removed. Patina metal with dark spotting and scattered minor pitting. Walnut stock with cracks on each side of the butt. Replacement forend at time of conversion. The action works fine, magazine tube spring is weak. Bore is dark with rust. Antique, s/n 497xx |
