| 45-70 Government; 90% blue, very good bore, fair stock, 20'' barrel, Original blued finish, walnut stock and casehardened buttplate and forend cap. Tube magazine fed bolt action repeating rifle. Exposed hammer for cocking. Magazine cutoff for single loading. Original short ladder rear sight. Front sight blade is a replacement. Stamped on top of the bolt "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION N.Y. / PAT. FEBY 24 MCH 17, 1874. JAN. 18 / SEPT 26, 1876. MCH 20 JULY 31, 1877". The metal retains generous blued finish, having some light surface rusting. Generous case color on the forend cap and buttplate. The wood has had a light coat of varnish applied and has arsenal patched in repairs on both sides. As well as a patched repair behind the receiver tang where there is a 1 inch crack. 1" sling swivels mounted on the bottom of the butt and forend cap. Mecanically fine. The bore is bright and strong, having some scattered spots of corrosion. Antique |
