| 50-70 Caliber; good bore, very good stock, 36'' barrel, Manufactured by Springfield Armory with approximately 10,000 produced. Bright finished barrel and bands. Casehardened frame with fading color. Walnut stock with legible ELA inspector cartouche on the left side. Upper tang stamped "REMINGTON'S PATENT / PAT. MAY 3D. NOV. 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1868". Left side of the frame marked "MODEL 1871". Left side of the frame stamped with the American Eagle motif over "U.S./SPRINGFIELD/1872". Buttplate heel tang stamped "U.S." with a hand stamped rack number "47". Fixed front sight, ladder rear sight grduated to 900 yards with 1000 yard V notch. Barrel has some minor dark spotting. The bore has shine and strong rifling, with scattered areas of pitting/rust. Antique |
