| 9mm Luger; 75% blue, 30% straw, good bore, good grips, 7 7/8'' barrel, Ultra rare DWM Prototype Artillery LP08 Luger pistol, serial number 4. 9mm barrel with prototype artillery rear tangent sight with prototype engraved numbering on the leaf. Fine tune adjustment front and rear sights, the front sight adjustment screw with a flat head as opposed to the rounded head on the rear sight adjustment screw. The foresight blade and bed have dual timing marks on top surface. Serial number 4 on the numbered parts marked in the commercial style. No date on chamber and no commercial or military proofs or inspection marks. DWM monogram on top of center toggle. All numbered parts are matching except for the magazine and the right grip which is serial numbered "2". Left grip is serial numbered "04", while all other parts have the one digit number 4. The magazine is a sheet steel wood bottom variation, serial numbered 121b. This gun is featured on page 934 of "The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols" by Joachim Gortz and Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Provenance: Collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Condition: Good overall. Retaining 75% original blue with scattered light pitting that is deepest on front grip strap and trigger guard and also on front of right frame rail. Retains 30% original straw on small parts with scattered corrosion. Bore is strong with moderate frost. Grips are lightly worn and oil soaked with some dings and chips to checkering. Magazine has scattered corrosion on body and minor dings to wood bottom. Mechanically fine. C&R/FFL, s/n 4, Catalog Number AR-17 |
