| 10.75 x 68; 80% blue, fair bore, fair stock, 27.5'' barrel, Pre-WW2 Mauser Oberndorf sporting rifle with blued finish, mounted in a fancy walnut stock. Military style 98 Mauser receiver marked on the left side "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER-OBERNDORF A/N". Crown/B, U and G proofs. Top of receiver ring with stippling. Top of barrel is retailer marked from Kenya "Chas. A. Heyer & Co. Nairobi". Fixed beaded front sight on a matted ramp. Express style rear sight with one standing and four folding leafs. Double set triggers. Lever floorplate release. The bolt has been jewelled and the handle has been professionally modified and swept back, the bolt has no serial number. The metal has finish touch-up here and there. The stock has been heavily sanded, bone forend tip, hard rubber grip cap, and a solid rubber recoil pad has been fitted. Sling swivel stud on bottom of butt is a newer replacement. Mechanically fine. The bore has strong rifling, is dark with visible rusting throughout. C&R/FFL, s/n 968xx |
