| 8x57mm; 98% blue, excellent+ bore, very good+ stock, 23.5'' barrel, Exceptional Pre-War Standard Modell 98 Mauser rifle with original blued finish. Walnut stock with finger grooved forend. Mauser 5-line Banner stamped on top of the receiver ring. Commercial crown/B, U, G and N proofed. Sometimes called the "Ghost Receiver" variation, the receiver was originally destined for millitary issue with a faint 1937 date under the banner on the receiver ring, then diverted for whatever reason for commercial/contract sale. All matching serial numbers. Nice even metal finish. Some discoloration on the strawed bolt release spring. The stock has a few compression marks on the left side of the forend and grip, with scattered minor/light dings and marks otherwise. Original leather crosshatched sling in very good condition. Original cleaning rod and also includes a front sight/flip open muzzle rod guide. The bore is bright and clean with fairly sharp rifling., s/n B740xx |
