| Description: |
| 22 Long Rifle; 90% blue, excellent bore, good stock, 25.25'' barrel, Ishapore No1 MKIII receiver dated 1912. Below the original buttstocket markings is stamped "A.G. PARKER/& CO LTD/BIRMINGHAM" over ".22 PATT '14" over "No 2". The left side of the buttsocket is stamped "MK IV*". The receiver is milled for the magazine cuttoff, which is not installed. This example has seen several conversions and service all over the empire. The left side of the receiver ring is stamped with the ownership markings of New Zealand "N/lZ". Which also appear on the left side of the barrels chamber under the handguard, indicatinn service in New Zealand at some point. The metal has arsenal blued finish, and is stocked in a walnut butt which is stamped on the right side with an Indian TDE roundel. The forend is Australian coachwood of WW2 vintage which is not serial numbered. Both upper and lower handgaurds are Australian WW2 vintage coachwood as well. The trigger guard, nose cap, lower band and rear sight are all of Australian manufacture, indicating service and possible upgrade to the No2 MKIV pattern in Australia. The bolt is the original, stamped matching number, with an Enfield produced cocking piece, the bolt head is not marked. The barrel has British proofs with a 1929 date and matching serial number. The nose cap is the only other numbered part and it has a non-matching serial number. The left side rear receiver has an area of discoloration and there may have been a receiver sight installed at one time, since removed and the holes for the sight filled and cleaned up. The magazine is a No2 pattern with the spring and follower removed to act as a catch for spent cartridge casings, and is stamped on the left side "22" with some other markings ground away. No import marks. The wood is over all good however the lower handguard has a glue repaired full length crack. Mechanically fine. C&R/FFL, s/n 259xx |
