| 12 Gauge; fair bore, good stock, 29 3/8'' barrel, Manufactured by Theodor Klawitter of Herzberg Germany c.1880. Browned Damascus barrels with 2 1/2" chamber. Both chokes gauge Modified. Smooth concave barrel rib with gold inlaid "TH. KLAWITTER IN HERZBERG". Some minor loss on inlay. Frame and backlocks are grey with game scene and scroll engraving. The left lock is engraved around the back of the hammer "HERZBERG", right lock engraved "TH. KLAWITTER". Ornate underlever push barrel break. Checkered walnut stock with straight grip and cheekrest. Iron buttplate with scrill engraved heel tang. Original sling swivel eyes. Walnut forend with single wedge and silver wedge plates. Silver inlaid oval on the bottom of the forend with previous owners initials script engraved "L.M.". The bottom of the frame has had some light filing work done, some on the sides around the pivot pin as well. The browned finish on the barrels has thinned, some rust spotting heaviest around the muzzles. Both actions function fine. Checkering is worn mostly smooth on the stocks wrist. Barrel have slight up/down play in lockup and the bores are heavily frosted. Antique, s/n 24xx |
