| Description: |
| 32 ACP; 70% blue, good bore, good grips, 2 7/8'' barrel, Designed by Iwakichi Inagaki and produced circa 1941 with an estimated 500 made, stamped on the right side rear frame with the I over S logo (Inagaki Type). Inagaki presented his pistol to the Japanese Army Research Institute and the gun was accepted for issue. Both the Army and Navy purchased examples, with at least some of the early Navy issued pistols being stamped with the circled anchor mark on the frame. This example has no markings other than the IS logo and serial number. Full three digit matching serial numbers appear externally on the frame, trigger guard and magazine, and internally on the slide and barrel. This pistol retains the original blued finish which remains at approximately 70%, wear and thin areas over all with most loss on the grip frame straps. There is some minor spotting mainly on the right side of the frame and slide. Original wood grips with diagonal grooves. A very rare Japanese WW2 issue pistol with very few known to exist in the U.S., 5 or 6 it is estimated. Most of these small handguns were issued to pilots, and with the low production and attrition to the Japanese Army and Navy air forces during the war, not many apparently survived. Mechanically fine.
