| Meiji era design type 19 (1886) sword with a 29 inch service weight chromed steel blade. Very minor spotting and staining to its surface. Brass basket guard and backstrap with two 10-leaf cherry blossoms and floral decoration indicating a company grade officer. Covered wooden grip with triple strand brass wire binding. Twisted strand is missing on most of the wrap. There is an EC inside a diamond stamped into the underside of the guard next to the quillon. Single carrying ring suspension on a black painted steel scabbard has a few minor scratches. |
