| 54 Caliber; very good+ bore, excellent stock, 36'' barrel, Full stock percussion rifle by the contemporary maker William M Large. Browned finish heavy 54 Caliber octagon barrel with silver blade front and V notched rear full buckhorn rear sight. Iron mounted full length plain walnut stock, three wedge forend with steel cap. Adjustable set triggers. American Eagle engraved silver oval inlaid on the cheekrest. 5 1/2" toeplate. Mr. Large's mark over the left barrel "W.M. LARGE/JJJJ/L". Top of the barrel is hand stamped "J. & S. HAWKEN ST. LOUIS". Lock functions well. Weighs in at almost 12lbs. Has been used, the bore is sharp, shows a bit of frost. Minor widely scattered handling marks on the stock. |
