Description:
95% blue, ZF4 scope mounted on a machined protoype mount, possibly for a transistional G41 or G43 rifle, or late K98K rifle with left side mounted scope base. Standard ZF4 scope marked "Gw ZF4 dow 29749". The scope optics are good, slightly hazy, but clear. The metal cover for the windage adjustment drum is present. Prototype mount is a heavy machined piece, manufactured for use on a left side rail, and has shorter struts than the traditional ZF4 mount. The front and rear aspects of the mount are mirror images of each other and the cradle holds the scope from the side rather than from below. The mount is unmarked, with a dark blued finish. The locking lever is marked "fest" and "lose". This exact set is illustrated in Darren Weavers 2001 book "Hitlers Garands" on page 268. Provenance: From the collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Condition: Excellent overall.,
