| 16 Gauge; very good bore, excellent stock, 32 1/2'' barrel, From the J.M.Davis Museum, this is a fine quality Vogelbuchsen made for the specific target competition of Vogelschiessen (Eagle shooting). A 14-pound rifle with a Mauser 1871 action that shot a 16 gauge slug. The target was an Eagle replica atop a very tall pole. A popular Schutzenfest sport. The rifle was made and marked by Ed. Kettner, Koln. A nice original engraved action, set triggers, target sights, Monte Carlo stock. The barrel is rifled with many lands and grooves. Bore is excellent. Very rare as most known Vogelbuchsen rifles are very plain construction. Top of barrel flat near receiver is marked with “1”, s/n???, and what appears to be “100” on left side of receiver. |
