| Description: |
| This is a WWII era prototype SS dagger produced in 1939 by Paul Muller. Muller, working at his forge in Dachau, was considered to be the foremost Damascus artisan of the 20th Century. Documented by LTC James Atwood as being purchased from Paul Muller himself around 1960 in West Germany and then sold to LTC Thomas M. Johnson. Mr. Johnson sold the dagger in 1980, and a letter along with LTC James Atwoods contact information accompanies this dagger. This dagger is pictured on the cover of Colonel Atwoods book "The Daggers and Edged Weapons of Hitler's Germany", first published in 1965. A copy of this book accompanies this dagger as well. Likely one of the best documented SS daggers we have ever offered. The Turkish pattern Damascus blade is marked ECHT DAMAST and is signed P M on the tang. The full SS motto is gold inlaid on one side of the blade. Complete with the original scabbard. This dagger is in overall excellent plus condition, with no sign of attempts to clean, with all the metal having the original age patina., |
