| Description: |
| 9x19mm; 97% blue, 70% straw, excellent bore, very good grips, 7 7/8'' barrel, This pistol is featured in the book "Weimar and Early Nazi Lugers and Their Accessories" by Jan C. Still, on page 286. And is accompanied by a letter of authentication dated in 1991 from Robert Simpson. Original blued finish and strawed small parts. Original checkered walnut grips. The numbered parts are matching, which includes the sideplate, trigger, and takedown lever. Other parts are not numbered which is proper for these pistols. Proper variation unmarked wood base magazine. Scarce early v suffix assembled in the 1930's by Mauser from DWM parts stores and marketed to buyers in the States by A.F. Stoeger Inc of New York, with the American Eagle motif roll stamped on top of the chamber. Crown/U proofs are located on the bottom of the barrel, left side of the rceiver, rear toggle and on the left side of the breechbolt. The pistol is marked with the "3-line" Stoeger markings, right side of the receiver is marked with the "GERMANY" export stamp along with "A.F. STOEGER INC / NEW YORK.". The right side frame rail is stamped "GENUINE LUGER - REGISTERED U.S. PATENT OFFICE.". The top of the center toggle is stamped with the DWM logo. The extractor is marked "LOADED" and the safety marking on the left toggle housing reads "GESICHERT". Condition: The metal finish shows high point and edge wear, with the finish generally uniform overall. A few light scratches appear on the sideplate. The straw color on the small parts has weakened a bit over the years with most loss of color on the takedown lever. The grip panels retain crisp checkering. There is a glue repair to a tiny chip on the left panel under the safety lever. Mechanics are excellent. The bore is bright and sharp. In his letter of authentication Mr. Simpson closes "S/N 712v is one of the most desireable and rarest Stoeger Lugers I have seen, as it incorporates all of the above features except the "safe" safety marking. It would be almost impossible to upgrade this Luger with another Stoeger variation in terms of rarity, desirability, and/or condition.". Also included with this pistol will be a copy of Jan Still's Weimar and Early Nazi Lugers book which is in Excellent used condition along with the original letter of authentication., s/n 7xxv, Catalog Number AR-15 |
