| Description: |
| 36 Caliber; good bore, good grips, 9'' barrel, This Paterson "Texas" No.5 model percussion revolver is a very well done custom produced replica likely made back in the 1950's or early 1960's, and was made to be very similar to the Paterson revolver put on exhibition in 1942 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With the exception of the cylinder scene engraving which on the original was described as being "obliterated". Quality of workmanship is excellent. Variant with loading lever and capping cutout on the recoil shield. Metal finish has been "antiqued" with no exterior corrosion or pitting, walnut grip has been aged and is slightly shrunken to frame fit. Serial numbers of coarse are matching and the barrels bore and cylinder chambers have levels of likely forced corrosion. Cylinder scene is near 100%. The action functions well. Barrel to frame fit is a bit off even with wedge adjustment. As most originals reside in museums and those in private collections not likely to be released any time soon this example may just fill a gap in a collection, especially at nearly 1/10th the price., s/n 9xx |
