| 34 Caliber; fair bore, good grips, 4.5'' barrel, Manufactured c.1840. This particular revolver is pictured in R.L. Wilson's book "The Book of Colt Firearms" on page 30, and was once part of the Robert Q. Sutherland collection. (Notice in the photographs that the pictures are mirrored, the wedge appearing to be reversed, not the case on the actual firearm). The gun has turned an even gray overall with trace blued finish on the front of the recoil sheild and inside the bottom of the frame. Features the "flared" grip frame with a birds eye maple grip. Matching serial numbers on the cylinder, barrel, wedge and base pin. The 5 chamber cylinder retains 85% of the roll engraved Centaur scene, completely visible however no longer sharp. Octagonal barrel is marked on the top "-Patent Arms MgCo Paterson NJ Colt's Pt-", which is clearly legible. All screws have fairly clean slots without excessive wear. The metal has some spotting however no major corrosion, one mentionable small spot on the backstrap. The action functions well and the grip fits the frame well with very minor shrinkage. The grip does show some handling and varnish finish wear. The barrels bore has strong rifling with levels of corrosion throughout. Antique., s/n 8xx |
