| 45 ACP; 85% blue, very good+ bore, very good grips, 5'' barrel, Colt Government Model 1911 commercial production automatic pistol, manufactured 1913/1914. Original high polish blued finish, this example being one of the last with high polish finish from the factory. Fitted with genuine pearl grips from the period. Original fixed sights. Two tone finish magazine with lanyard loop on base. The left side of the slide is marked with two block two line patent dates and Colt's address. Patent dates 1897, 1902, 1905 and 1911. Sharp Rampant Colt logo located at the left rear slide behind the serrations. The finish on the metal shows high point wear overall with most of the finish thinned from the grip frame straps. There is scattered minor spotting. Bore is clean with sharp rifling and only some very minor "frost" in the grooves. The left pearl grip has a small chip around the upper screw, the right panel has an old crack around the upper screw. This pistol is parts correct original with the exception of the grip panels which were likely purchased and installed when new in 1914. Accompanying this pistol is its original box which is in fair condition. The labeled ends of the box have seperated, the lower box at one corner, the lid at one corner and along the top edge. The labels are 90% intact themselves. The inner box and lid labels are near 99% intact. The box lid hinge is intact. Along with the pistol and box is a Colt factory letter, which states the gun was shipped to a hardware store in Portland Oregon in February 1914., s/n C55xx |
