| 58 Cal; fair bore, good stock, 40'' barrel, Manufactured by Colt F.A., state cointract marked to New Jersey, left side of barrel stamped "N. J." and "STEEL". 1862 dated on top of breech and back of lockplate. Eagle motif marked on side of bolster. Side of lockplate is marked "U.S./COLT'S PT F.A. Mfg Co/HARTFORD Ct.". Barrel and fittings in the white. US stamped on top of buttplate tang. Left side of barrel breech stamped with VP proof. Original ramrod present. The metal shows some scattered minor dark spotting, with some minor pitting around the bolster and nipple areas. Original walnut stock is over all good with many dings, dents and scratches. There are small slivers of wood missing along the ramrod channel and small old chips at the forend tip iron. Also a 1 inch crack developing behind the lockplate. No legible markings on the left side of the stock flat, small letter "L" stamped on the bottom of the grip. The action functions well. Bore has strong rifling, surface rusting throughout. Antique, |
