| 45 ACP; 98% blue, excellent bore, excellent grips, 5.5'' barrel, Chinese Type 17 Mauser copy with stock. Production of the .45 caliber handgun began in 1929 at the Taiyuan Arsenal. They are inscribed (in Chinese) "Type 17" on the left-hand side of the gun, and "Republic Year Eighteen, Made in Shansi" on the right-hand side. They were issued (along with Thompson SMGs) to railway guards in the province as defense against bandits and other warlords. Only about 8,500 of these are known to have been made. The S/N on this Pistol is 933. The metal finish is in very good condition. and the grooved wooden grips are in excellent condition.
