| This Model 1840 Artillery saber has a 32 1/4 long curved, single edged steel blade with a flat top and a single wide fuller. The blade is in good condition with scattered patina. The leather washer pad is missing part of it. Knucklebow is unmarked but features an arsenal rack number"56" deeply stamped unto the brass quillon The blade has a faint U.S. and date markings at the ricasso. The grips have a worn black bridle leather and encircled with twisted brass wire wrap. The steel scabbard has a dark patina overall. The bands are tight and suspend two 1 1/2 sword suspension rings.
