Auflage Verlag HALLWAG / Bern 1940 Gustav Däniker "WERDENDES SOLDATENTUM" Dritte, erweiterte Auflage Verlag Hallwag / Bern 1940 Masse: 20 cm x 12,5 cm / 136 Seiten 'Gustav Däniker (1896 - 1947) . 1914 Rekrutenschule, anschliessend Aktivdienst und Offiziersschule, 1922 Promotion zum Dr. beider Rechte, 1925 Instruktionsoffizier, 1929-31 Ecole supérieure de guerre in Paris, 1936 Lehrauftrag an der Abteilung für Militärwissenschaften der ETH Zürich, 1938 Kommandant der Schiessschule Walenstadt und Dozent für Militärwissenschaften an der Univ. Basel, 1940 Generalstabsoffizier. Mitte der 1930er Jahre plädierte D. - gegen die herrschende Doktrin - für die Beschränkung der Milizarmee auf die Abwehr. Durch moderne Bewaffnung der Infanterie, Verlängerung der Ausbildungszeiten und eine einheitliche fachmänn. Armeeleitung wollte er die Kriegstauglichkeit der Miliz steigern. Dabei geriet er in Konflikt mit Bundesrat Rudolf Minger und dem späteren General Henri Guisan. Der Verehrer General Ulrich Willes und Bewunderer der dt. Wehrmacht war von der nationalsozialistischen Diktatur in Deutschland fasziniert. 1941 sprach D. sich sogar für eine freiwillige Eingliederung der Schweiz in das "Neue Europa" aus. Deswegen wurde er aus der Armee und als Hochschuldozent entlassen. Bis zu seinem Tod leitete er die militärtechn. Abteilung der Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon-Bührle.
